These ads were used in sports programs for Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill. Using photos from the paper’s archives, we highlighted the paper’s history of coverage of the area’s popular teams.


Our marketing department received a first place award from the International Newspaper Marketing Association for this concept and series.

 

As a Marketing Designer for The Herald-Sun, I worked closely with the Marketing Director to promote the newspaper through direct mail pieces, ads in outside publications ad in our own paper.


Our marketing department received a Certificate of Merit from the International Newspaper Marketing Association for its series of ads featuring the work of the paper’s award-winning photographers along with headlines that I often wrote myself. The ads on the following pages are part of this series. We also use the concept on direct mail pieces to promote circulation.
